SoVA’s Edwin W. Zoller Gallery Profiles Student Art

Each fall, the Penn State School of Visual Arts (SoVA) opens its exhibition program with two exhibits. The first features work from our undergraduate BFA program, followed by an exhibition of our 2nd Year MFA students. The BFA Student Exhibition, on display from September 29 to October 5, includes an array of artworks from across all media areas and is characterized by an inventiveness and enthusiasm for material thinking – media as diverse as Q-tips and chocolate sit side by side with paint, clay, print and photo. The many faces of BFA students seems to be reflected in the variety of portrait explorations with forms rendered in pencil, day-glo paint, rich swatches of oil paint, thin veils of stain, and even a personal cabinet of curiosities. The MFA exhibition, Second Helping, will feature works from our 2nd year MFA students and include a variety of work, such as photography, ceramics, painting, sculpture, and printmaking. The show opens at the Edwin W. Zoller Gallery on October 11, with an opening reception Friday, October 12 at 5:00 p.m.  The exhibition will be on display through October 23, 2012.
