Penn State School of Visual Art (SoVA) offers a faculty-led summer program in conjunction with Studio Art Centers International (SACI) in Florence, Italy. Studio Arts Centers International (SACI) is housed in a 17th-century palazzo in the heart of Florence. This is a unique opportunity for students to directly experience the art they have studied at Penn State. In taking classes in SACI’s studios students are immersed in rich cultural history and intense personal encounters that inspire profound creative responses.
Each summer, a SoVA faculty member accompanies Penn State students to Florence and teaches a course for SACI. Students may chose any two courses from the SACI summer course schedule including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, black and white photography, communication design, art conservation, jewelry design, and a Renaissance art history survey. No Italian language is required.
