FIRST YEAR APPLICANT

Apply to Penn State: Priority Deadline – Nov 30

A portfolio review is not required for first-year students’ entry to SoVA.  During the first year of study, students will participate in our First-Year Seminar, Foundations, and beginning level program courses.  Students typically enter a major during their second year of study after a successful portfolio review and the completion of all other entrance to major (ETM) requirements.

CHANGE OF MAJOR, CHANGE OF CAMPUS, AND TRANSFER STUDENTS

SPRING: November 1
FALL: April 15
SUMMER: March 1
 

 

Entry to SoVA for change of major, change of campus, and transfer students requires a portfolio review.  The portfolio should include 10-12 images of the applicant’s work and a statement, no more than 500 words, to describe one of the artworks.  Portfolios are reviewed as they are received and applicants are notified via email of the committee’s decision.  If admitted to SoVA, Foundations and ETM requirements must be completed before declaring a major.
