First Street Green

First Street Green (FSG), founded by SoVA faculty members Ann Shostrom and John Bowman, is a group of community residents who came together in 2008 to transform a vacant lot in New York City's East Village from a rat habitat into a maintainable plaza and cultural space/Open Art Park.

FSG supports the Open Art Park by providing programming for and with the community, focusing on cultural and educational events involving all of the arts, while also serving as a public forum for ideas.
