SoVA Announces Second Annual Portfolio Day at University Park Campus

Portfolio Day 2014 Portfolio Review

Creativity and innovation are found in abundance throughout the Penn State School of Visual Arts (SoVA) and there is no better way to get to know us than to come visit! We invite you to attend our Portfolio Day at the University Park campus on Friday, November 6, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. SoVA offers degrees in art and design disciplines as well as art education, giving students the experiences and facilities they need to prepare for exciting and productive professional careers.

The Portfolio Day event provides an opportunity for prospective students to have their portfolio reviewed by SoVA’s acclaimed faculty of artists, designers, and art educators. In addition to portfolio reviews, faculty representatives will provide portfolio-building tips, as well as answer questions about professional careers in art, art education, and design. Although a portfolio is not required for first-year entrance, there is a portfolio requirement while studying at Penn State to move into a specific major.

The day begins with a presentation by Penn State Admissions and a walking tour of the University Park campus led by Penn State’s Lion Ambassadors. Participants will have time for lunch on their own before returning for the afternoon session of portfolio reviews. During the afternoon session, current SoVA students will be on hand to provide tours of our studios and facilities, and give first-hand accounts of their SoVA experiences.
